Today we left Tulsa and drove to Kinsley,
Kansas. On the way we stopped in Alva, Oklahoma
to see the Cherokee Strip Museum. This
museum is in an old 1932 hospital and has exhibits on the 1893 land run,
memorabilia of Oklahoma pioneer days, Indian art and artifacts, and period
business displays in its 40 rooms.
Jim’s grandfather was in this land run and staked a claim for free land. One of the displays had a rare claim
stake flag. The one Jim’s grandfather had is
in a museum in California. We stayed at
a Passport America RV park in Kinsley, Kansas and washed clothes.
