8/2/16 - Fairplay, CO

Today is the 31st anniversary of our 1st date.  On our 1st date Jim took me to see “Pee Wee’s Big Adventure”.  Today for breakfast he made me waffles.  Then we drove to the old mining town of Fairplay.  This town has a lot of relocated historic buildings from the surrounding area that they have made into an open air museum called South Park City which recreates the early days of the Colorado gold rush.  Fairplay is also the setting for the TV cartoon show “South Park”.  After walking through the buildings in South Park City we had lunch at Subway and then went to South Park Brewery.  On the way back we stopped in Breckenridge and took the tour at Breckenridge Distillery.  They make very high quality vodka, bourbon, and gin at the distillery.  They have a really neat old 1973 Burro that is painted up with their name on it.  We stopped in Frisco at Ollie’s to have a beer and walked around on Main Street.  On the way back home we had to get more fresh water to put in the holding tank of the Casita.  This campground has water that is good for dishes and bathing but not for drinking.
