8/20/16 - Yampa River State Park, CO
We got up early this morning and after breakfast
we drove to see wild horses. Sand Wash
Herd Management is run by the BLM. We
drove a 50 mile gravel loop and saw 70 horses.
Some were far away, some were near and some were right by the road. We saw elk and a prairie dog. While taking pictures of some really pretty
purple flowers, we saw a strange flying thing that a hummingbird was chasing
away from the flowers. It was a
Colorado Hummingbird Moth and it was really pretty. We drove through the town of Maybell and thought of my mother Mae
Bell. It was hot today and we stopped
in Craig at the Popular Bar for a beer before returning back to camp and eating
supper. Then we went back to Charlie
and Susie’s trailer and played Phase 10.
