9/5/16 - Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, CO

I made oatmeal this morning and then we took showers.  We are going to be at a campground for the next 2-3 days that only has electricity.  There will be water for use sparingly -- you can’t fill your holding tank with water.  They don’t have a dump station and there are only pit toilets.  We drove to The Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, South Rim Campground.  Loop A is reservable and has no hookups.  Loop C is non-reservable and has no hookups.  Loop B is reservable with electricity.  We found a site in Loop B that is open until the 8th.  We paid for two nights.  It was a beautiful day with no clouds in the sky.  Since it was mid afternoon we decided to take the drive in the park tomorrow.  We drove into Montrose and went back to Horsefly Brewing and I had a chili beer that was quite good.  The other two breweries in town are closed on Monday, but as we were driving down the main street we saw Zulu Brewing and stopped at it.  It has only been open two weeks.  The décor inside was really comfortable.  Jim went to the Salvation Army Thrift Store and bought a couple of music CDs.  On the way back to the park we drove to a lookout site on the East Portal drive.  This drive had a 16% downgrade.  It was really, really scary!  We had supper and then sat outside.
